Testing of hospital and nursing beds (DIN VDE 0751-1)

Hospital and nursing beds tested to DIN VDE 0751-1, DGUV 3/4 and TRBS 1201.

Hospital and nursing beds are work equipment and medical device at once: moved daily, adjusted electrically, cleaned with surface disinfectants and loaded with many times their own weight. That mix of movement, moisture and sustained load makes electrical testing mandatory – in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation and home intensive care.
Basis: section 14 BetrSichV, DGUV Regulation 3/4 and TRBS 1201; the test standard is DIN VDE 0751-1, which scales the scope to the bed's design and protection class.
We inspect the mains lead, insulation, plug, terminals and conductors, bend protection, strain relief, mountings and cable retainers, housing and protective covers – including checks for overload, unauthorised modification, corrosion, ageing and soiling at cooling vents and adjustment motors. Then protective conductor resistance, insulation resistance and leakage current by protection class, plus functional testing of the adjustment drives and locking brakes.
Result: test label on the bed, defect report with photos and a digital record in the customer portal – every bed with inventory number and next due date, scheduled ward by ward.
