
How 100 maintenance workers work with Scable in one of Europe's largest battery factories

Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL), world market leader for innovative technologies in the field of new energies. CATL has been producing in Germany since 2022. From the very beginning, the company has relied entirely on automation and digitization: almost all assembly is automated, numerous robots and driverless "AGV" transport systems are used.
With so much technology, maintenance plays a particularly important role. After all, several module and cell lines have to be maintained. To guarantee smooth operation, the team of over 100 employees in maintenance led by maintenance manager Christopher Kaufmann relies entirely on digital solutions. The company decided early on to use maintenance software. Kaufmann chose the solutions from Stuttgart-based Scable AG. How CATL ensures fast fault and spare parts management
The software always provides CATL's maintenance team with an overview of the condition of the various systems. Faults are recorded directly in production. This is done quickly and easily using mobile tablets. The maintenance team can process faults in the form of tickets. This means that all communication is transparent, so that everyone in the team has the same information available.
Spare parts management in the mega factory is also coordinated using the Scable software. All spare parts, their storage locations and intended uses are clearly defined. This gives maintenance staff a quick overview of which spare parts are needed for each machine and where they are stored. Spare parts are removed using a scan, so that the inventory level is always up to date and can be reordered promptly.
