The Würth Group is the global market leader in the development, manufacture and sale of assembly and fastening materials. The globally active family-owned company based in Künzelsau, Baden-Württemberg, has over 400 companies with more than 2,500 branches in 80 countries.

Business areas of the Würth Group

The Würth Group is divided into two divisions: Würth’s core business is the manufacture and sale of assembly and fastening materials. Other trading and production companies, the so-called Allied Companies, are active in related business areas, such as electrical wholesale, electronics or financial services. The international and decentralized structure of the Würth Group and its activities in a wide range of industries ensure the independence and stability of the Group. In the 2022 fiscal year, the Group generated sales of EUR 19.9 billion and an operating result of EUR 1.6 billion.

From a two-man operation to a global corporation

The Würth Group’s success story began in the middle of the last century: Adolf Würth founded the screw wholesaler of the same name in Künzelsau in 1945. After his death in 1954, his then 19-year-old son Reinhold took over the business. With vision and entrepreneurial passion, he developed the two-man business into a globally active group with more than 87,000 employees, including more than 43,000 in sales. The founding company, Adolf Würth GmbH & Co. KG, is still the largest single company in the Würth Group today.

The course for the future of the family business has long been set: Prof. Dr. h. c. mult. Reinhold Würth, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Würth Group’s Family Trusts, was very keen from the very beginning to secure the future of the company and to ensure that the succession was in good hands. Since 2006, his daughter Bettina Würth has been Chairwoman of the Advisory Board of the Würth Group, the highest supervisory and controlling body of the Group. The next generation, Maria, Benjamin and Sebastian Würth, are also already active in the company.

Multi-channel strategy, logistics and innovations as success factors

The Würth Group sees digitalization in conjunction with its multi-channel strategy in sales as a strategic growth area. More and more customers are digitizing their goods procurement and ordering via the online store, the Würth app or automating their purchasing processes, for example

via e-procurement solutions. The dense branch network and telephone customer support complement these options. Nevertheless, as the central point of contact, the employees in the sales force remain an irreplaceable link between Würth and the customer.

Alongside sales, logistics is at the heart of the Würth Group. Automated processes increase efficiency and productivity – so that the customer ultimately receives their goods quickly and reliably. At the same time, the company focuses on product development via the Reinhold Würth Innovation Center Curio at the company headquarters in Künzelsau. The aim is to establish new products and systems on the market even faster. Individual products, services and application steps are linked to form efficient work processes in order to make work easier for more than four million customers from industry and trade worldwide. The Würth Group’s product range comprises more than one million products.
