As a high-tech specialist within the Olympus Group, Olympus Surgical Technologies Europe is the development and production center for rigid endoscopy, bipolar high-frequency surgery and instrument reprocessing. With the introduction of the two solutions, the company aims to improve maintenance processes at its center of excellence for rigid endoscopy in Hamburg. This includes the optimization of central deployment planning as well as the digitalization of the maintenance staff’s mobile order processing. The aim of the project is to minimize order times, improve the quality of the recorded data and increase the transparency of the maintenance processes.
In order to digitize the order processing of the maintenance staff in the production of medical devices in Hamburg and at other locations, Olympus Surgical Technologies Europe was looking for a mobile application that could be easily integrated into SAP PM. All maintenance and repair work performed by the maintenance staff should be easily documented. The company also wanted to optimize deployment planning by using software with a graphical display of deployments and workloads and skill matching, thereby increasing the efficiency and transparency of the planning processes. After an extensive evaluation, the decision was made in favor of the two solutions from mobileX, which best met the requirements.
The implementation of the Field Service Management project at Olympus Surgical Technologies Europe began at the beginning of 2020. Since the beginning of July, selected maintenance staff and dispatchers have been using the solutions in a productive pilot. Subsequently, all technicians will use mobileX-CrossMIP and the six dispatchers will use mobileX-Dispatch.
Hannes Heckner, CEO and founder of mobileX AG, comments: “We are proud to have won another well-known customer in the medical technology sector with Olympus Surgical Technologies Europe.”
